ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Dr. Hardin is a professor in the Sport Management program in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, & Sport Studies at the University of Tennessee.

His research interests focus primary on the governance of collegiate athletics focusing on administrator career mobility and the holistic care of athletes. Dr. Hardin also examines topics focused on sport management education as well as adaptive sport and recreation. He has more than 100 scholarly publications and has more than 150 scholarly presentations.

He served as editor of Sport Management Education Journal from June 2018 to June 2021. He is currently a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Intercollegiate Sport and the Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics. He has mentored 14 doctoral students more than 100 master’s students.

He earned his PhD in Communications from the University of Tennessee. He holds both a master’s degree in Communications and Sport Studies from the University of Tennessee. He received his bachelor’s degree in Communications and Political Science from East Tennessee State University.

Dr. Hardin also is member of the official statistics staff for Tennessee football and men’s and women’s basketball. He retired in 2008 after 20 years of service in the Tennessee National Guard and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm (1991–1992).
