This camp was started in the fall semester of 2002 because of the many children who had attended Camp Koinonia in the past and had “aged out” of that program. There are very few opportunities for young adults over the age of 21 with multiple disabilities to engage inappropriate leisure/recreation programs. The program involves more than 50 participants and more than 70 University of Tennessee students. The UT students plan, organize, and conduct the entire weekend program during the fall semester.
This year, Koinonia Retreat will be held during the 2016 fall semester at the Clyde M. York 4-H Center in Crossville, TN from October 20-23.
