Are you planning to graduate this summer? Submit your Admission to Candidacy form to me by April 15.

If you are planning to graduate this summer, you need to submit your Admission to Candidacy form to the Graduate School by April 29, 2011.  We have an internal department deadline of 5:00 pm, April 15, 2011 for this form.  Submit your form to me by … …placing it in my mailbox.  Be sure it is complete, correct, and signed by all of your committee members.  In the column that is labeled “Department”, indicate the program associated with the course prefix that was in place when you actually took the course.  For example, you would list “Sport Studies” for SPST 595 or “Kinesiology” for KNS 534.  If you took any 400-level courses for graduate credit, please let me know (you can just use a Post-It Note or similar).

Remember that Graduate Catalog changes apply to all current students.  You do not necessarily get to graduate under the catalog for the year you started.  So, make sure you have the correct names for things like you major and concentration, and that you have met the curriculum requirements indicated in the current catalog.  If your committee has approved substitutions from the published curriculum, please have your major professor attach a memo to me outlining them.  If you are a doctoral student, your form will be reviewed much faster if you attach a memo to me indicating which courses you used for your concentration, specialization, research, and cognate requirements.  You can view the different curricula in the Graduate Catalog by clicking here (scroll down to the section for our department).

Also remember the other deadlines you must meet.  Click the following links to go to the Graduate School’s page for important dates (see especially the link for Deadline Dates for Graduation) and forms.
