Department deadline for Admission to Candidacy forms (spring 2012 graduation) is November 15, 2011

If you are planning to graduate next spring (2012), you need to submit your Admission to Candidacy form to the Graduate School by November 29, 2011.  We have an internal department deadline of 5:00 pm, November 15, 2011 for this form.

If you miss the department deadline, we will do our best to help you but cannot guarantee that you will be able to meet the Graduate School deadline.  Please don’t risk adding another semester to your program by failing to handle this requirement in a timely manner.

You submit your form to Betty Carver at the KRSS front desk.  Be sure it is complete, correct, and signed by all of your committee members.  In the column that is labelled “Department”, indicate the program associated with the course prefix that was in place when you actually took the course.  For example, you would list “Sport Studies” for SPST 595 or “Kinesiology” for KNS 534.  If you took any 400-level courses for graduate credit, please indicate this (you can just use a Post-It Note or similar).  Once your form has been approved, I will return it to Mrs. Carver and either email you directly or post an announcement on this site to let you know.  It is your responsibility to can pick it up and take it to the Graduate School.  If there are problems with your form, I’ll let you or your major professor know.

Remember that Graduate Catalog changes apply to all current students.  You do not necessarily get to graduate under the catalog for the year you started.  So, make sure you have the correct names for things like you major and concentration, and that you have met the curriculum requirements indicated in the current catalog.  If your committee has approved substitutions from the published curriculum, please have your major professor attach a memo outlining them.  If you are a doctoral student, your form will be reviewed much faster if you attach a memo indicating which courses you used for your concentration, specialization, research, and cognate requirements.  You can view the different curricula in the Graduate Catalog by clicking here (scroll down to the section for our department).
