Department deadline for Admission to Candidacy applications (summer 2013 graduation) is April 12, 2013

If you are planning to graduate this summer (2013), you need to submit your Admission to Candidacy application to the Graduate School by April 26, 2013.

We have an internal department deadline of 5:00 pm, April 12, 2013 for this form.

If you miss the department deadline, we will do our best to help you but cannot guarantee that you will be able to meet the Graduate School deadline. Please don’t risk adding another semester to your program by failing to handle this requirement in a timely manner.

You submit your application at the KRSS front desk.  Be sure it is complete, correct, and signed by all of your committee members.  In the column that is labeled “Department,” indicate the program associated with the course prefix that was in place when you actually took the course.  For example, you would list “Sport Studies” for SPST 595 or “Kinesiology” for KNS 534.  If you took any 400-level courses for graduate credit, please indicate this (you can just use a Post-It Note or similar).

If you are a doctoral student, please attach a memo indicating which courses you used for your concentration, specialization, research, and cognate requirements.

Once your application has been reviewed, it will be placed in a folder at the KRSS front desk for you to retrieve.  You will be notified either directly by email or a posted announcement on this site.  Please keep in mind that errors on your application will delay the approval process.

Please remember it is the student’s responsibility to deliver the approved application to the Graduate School by the April 26 deadline.

Remember that Graduate Catalog changes apply to all current students.  You do not necessarily get to graduate under the catalog for the year you started.  So, make sure you have the correct names for your major and concentration, and that you have met the curriculum requirements indicated in the current catalog.  If your committee has approved substitutions from the published curriculum, please have your major professor attach a memo outlining them.   You can view the different curricula in the Graduate Catalog by clicking here (scroll down to the section for our department).

Also remember the other deadlines you must meet.  Click the following links to go to the Graduate School’s pages for important dates (see especially the link for Deadline Dates for Graduation) and forms.

You can find more information about the Admission to Candidacy process in the KRSS Graduate Student Handbook.
