Sport Studies Tenure-track assistant professor opening (Mississippi State University)

The Department of Kinesiology at Mississippi State University is seeking applications for a nine month, tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor – Sport Studies) starting in August 2013. Applicants must have a research agenda in some aspect of sport studies, sport administration, and/or sport pedagogy. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach courses in the economic and financial aspects of sport, but individuals with other specializations will also be considered. A doctorate in kinesiology, physical education, sport administration, or a related discipline is required. Candidates who are ABD will be considered at the instructor level with the rank upgraded to assistant professor when all degree requirements are completed (no longer than a year from date of hire). Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within the Division of Sport Studies, which houses the sport management and sport pedagogy curricular options, and providing service to the department, university and profession. The successful applicant is expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and conduct a scholarly research agenda that entails grant writing and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
