Please see the message below from Dr. Paulus regarding qualitative research:

 

1. As you may have seen, the spring 2014 timetable is now available. To help you with your course planning, here are the intended course offerings for qualitative research methods for 2014:

Spring 2014: 

Two sections of Introduction to Qualitative Research (EDPY559), Tuesday (Paulus) and Wednesday (Ellison) evenings
One section of Advanced Qualitative Research in Education (EDPY659), Thursday evening (Paulus)
One section of Advanced Qualitative Research in Human Sciences (CFS650), Wednesday morning (Blanton)

Summer 2014:

One section of Introduction to Qualitative Research (EDPY559), Wednesday evenings, 10 week session (Yamagata-Lynch)

Fall 2014: 

One to two sections of Introduction to Qualitative Research (EDPY559), TBD
One section of Philosophy of Education: Theory Writing (CSE526), TBD 
One section of Digital Tools for Qualitative Research (EDPY604), TBD (Paulus)

2. We are conducting a search for an Assistant Professor of Qualitative Research Methods:

 

The goal is for us to have a new faculty member by fall of 2014 who can teach EDPY559, EDPY659 and one or two advanced qualitative methods courses that will be part of the certificate program.

3. ATLAS.ti now has a free iPad app version which is very useful for data collection. They will be releasing a version for the Mac in late 2014. In the meantime, James Remington is working to put the site license on the CEHHS lab computers for your use.
