The College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CPASS) is seeking applicants for a Teaching Assistant Professor in Athletic Coaching Education with an emphasis in Sport Pedagogy. CPASS is interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their teaching, service, and application of research to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Appointment: August 16, 2014 – Nine-month appointment. Summer teaching opportunities available.

Responsibilities: Provide academic and professional leadership in the area of sport pedagogy for the Athletic Coaching Education program. The ideal candidate will have college teaching experience or coaching experience. It is expected that the candidate will have strong supervision skills and coaching education experience.

The specific responsibilities for the position include:

  1. Teaching classes in the athletic coaching education program. A minimum teaching load of 12

    credits each semester is required. Classes include Principles and Problems of Coaching, Introduction to Athletic Coaching, Techniques of Coaching for specific sports, and supervision of students completing coaching internships and/or field practicums.

  2. Advising/mentoring undergraduate students.

  3. Providing service to the profession and serving on appropriate University and College-wide

    committees.

Professional Qualifications: An earned doctorate with a specialization in sport pedagogy or a closely related area. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience teaching in areas related to sport pedagogy and coaching education and/or coaching experience, the ability to advise students and coordinate/supervise student internships. Excellent written and oral communication skills and supervision skills are required.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
