Tenure-track faculty position: Assistant Professor – Sport Studies/Sport Administration (Mississippi State University)

The Department of Kinesiology at Mississippi State University is accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor – Sport Studies/Sport Administration) starting in August 2015. Applicants must have a research agenda in some aspect of sport studies or sport administration. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach courses in the financial aspects of sport, sport marketing, and/or sport law, but individuals with other specializations will also be considered and are encouraged to apply. A doctorate in sport administration or a related discipline is required. Candidates who are ABD will be considered at the instructor level with the rank upgraded to assistant professor when all degree requirements are completed (no longer than a year from date of hire). Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within the Division of Sport Studies and providing service to the department, university, and profession. The successful applicant is expected to mentor undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral level students and conduct a scholarly research agenda inclusive of grant writing and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Evaluation of applications will commence immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
