Assistant Professor rank open in the Kinesiology Department at SUNY-Cortland:

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR 10 MONTHS
Kinesiology, School of Professional Studies
Salary Range:   Competitive
Full-Time Tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting Fall 2017.

Major Responsibilities and/or Classes to be taught:

Provide instruction at both the undergraduate and Master’s levels in the candidate’s area of expertise; advise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students; provide service to the department, college, and professional organizations; develop an active research agenda that leads to nationally/internationally refereed publications and presentations; seek external funding for research; direct graduate/undergraduate research projects.

Functional and Supervisory Relationships:

Works under the direct supervision of the department chair. Works closely with the department chair and faculty and staff within the department. Additional working relationships with faculty and staff in other college departments.

Required Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in Kinesiology or related discipline, ABD with a designated completion date within 12 months of start will be considered; Specialization in Sport Philosophy, Sport Ethics, or closely-related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates that have previous experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate coursework in two or more of the following specializations: ethical issues in kinesiology, legal aspects of sport, social-psychological aspects of physical activity and sport; evidence of research productivity.
