Qualifications (Required)

  • ♦  Terminal Degree, earned doctorate in athletic training or closely associated field
  • ♦  Board of Certification Athletic Trainer
  • ♦  Eligible for Ohio Athletic Training Licensure

    Qualifications (Preferred)

  • ♦  3+ years of collegiate-level teaching experience, preferably in a post-professional athletic training program
  • ♦  Knowledge of, or experience as a Director of a Post-Professional Athletic Training program
  • ♦  Record of high quality teaching in athletic training
  • ♦  Professional experience in clinical science
  • ♦  Record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • ♦  Record of involvement in internally and/or externally funded grants

    Responsibilities

  • ♦  Serve as Director of the Post-Professional Athletic Training Program
  • ♦  Teach courses in the CAATE-Accredited Professional and Post-Professional Athletic Training

    Programs as well as in the School of Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences as determined by

    expertise and availability

  • ♦  Collaborate with students and faculty in the School of Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, as

    well as other appropriate departments across the College and University

  • ♦  Background, ability, and strong interest to conduct research related to the athletic training field
  • ♦  Serve as an advisor for masters’ theses and doctoral dissertation research
  • ♦  Participate in department, college and university service

    Formed in July 2016, The School of Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences is one of four schools in the University’s College of Health and Human Services. Students are provided degree programs at the

undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. Undergraduate students may choose to major in Exercise Science, Respiratory Care or Recreational Therapy. Concentrations and specializations within the BS in Exercise Science Program include, Human Performance and Fitness Promotion and Pre-Health Care professions (Pre-PT, Pre-OT, Pre-PA, Pre-AT and Pre-Med). The department also provides instruction in microbiology, pathophysiology, and anatomy and physiology to many students in non-kinesiology majors. Areas of emphasis at the MS level include Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Recreation Administration and Recreational Therapy. Professional Doctoral Programs include Occupational Therapy (DOT) and Physical Therapy (DPT). A Doctorate of Philosophy in Exercise Science Program is also available to students interested in developing an individualized program that reflects a combination of their professional goals and the research specialization of their advisor.
