Position:
The College of Health Professions invites applications for a renewable, non-tenure track, 10-month Lecturer position in Sport Management in the Department of Kinesiology beginningAugust, 2017.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree. Preference will be given to candidates who are ABD or hold a PhD in
Sport Management or a related discipline.
• Prior experience teaching Sport Management-related courses. Background to teach at
least two of the following areas: marketing, management, communications, facilities and
events, law and ethics, economics, finance, governance, and/or analytics. Candidates who
can teach across a variety of areas are preferred.
• An established record of excellent teaching in higher education.
• Experience in interdisciplinary teaching, demonstrated success in working with diverse
populations and students, and experience with a variety of teaching methods is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Teach courses in the undergraduate sport management program. Course loads will vary but could include sport management courses in marketing, management, communications, facilities and events, law and ethics, economics, finance, governance, and analytics. Teach four 3 credit courses per semester. Traditional, hybrid, and online forms of teaching. Advise students and be assigned service/committee responsibilities as needed by the department, college and university.
Possess strong skills related to mentoring undergraduates as they matriculate through the
program and prepare to enter the profession.
Department of Kinesiology:
The Department of Kinesiology is the largest in the College of Health Professions and is home to four degree programs: Athletic Training (BS), Exercise Science (BS), Physical EducationTeacher Education (BS & MS) and Sport Management (BS). The department currently has 31
full-time faculty serving more than 1,400 undergraduate students. Strong collaborations with the Department of Athletics, the College’s Wellness Center at the Institute for Well-Being and more than 150 school and internship sites support student success and faculty scholarship. With an emphasis on preparing students for careers in sport and movement-based professions, the department is well positioned to serve as a regional leader in improving health, fitness, wellness and sport performance.
