The Rachel Tanur Memorial Prize for Visual Sociology recognizes students in the social sciences who incorporate visual analysis in their work. It is named for Rachel Dorothy Tanur (1958–2002), an urban planner and lawyer who cared deeply about people and their lives and was an acute observer of living conditions and human relationships. The committee is now accepting applications for 2018 and applications will be accepted until January 24, 2018.

The International Peace Scholarship Fund, established in 1949, is a program which provides scholarships for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States and Canada. If you are interested in being considered for the 2018–2019 fellowship cycle, you will need to fill out the eligibility form between September 15 and December 15. UT Faculty and Graduate Teaching Associates are invited to bring their lunch and a colleague to the fall 2017 Instructional Technology Community of Practice (ITCoP) kickoff. Past GTA@OIT Grant recipients will host a panel discussion on technology tools that enhance teaching and learning in their courses.

 

The brown bag lunch event will be held on Wednesday, September 27th, from 12:20 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. in the Hodges Library Practice Presentation Room, 220E. The presenters include: Amy Heger, Psychology; Cara Sulyok, Mathematics; and Vincent Price, Theory and Practice in Teacher Education.

On September 27th, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., the Business, Retail and Government  Job and Internship Fair will be taking place at the Thompson-Boling Arena. The Business, Retail and Government Job & Internship Fair brings in private and public sector employers and organizations seeking a wide variety of majors.

 

This fair is for students of any major with an interest in the business, retail and government industries.

On September 26th, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., the Supply Chain Management Job and Internship Fair will be taking place at the Thompson-Boling Arena.The Supply Chain Management Job & Internship Fair is only held during the Fall semester and brings in employers and organizations that are looking for Supply Chain Management and Industrial Engineering students.

 

This fair is targeted to students majoring in Supply Chain Management and related majors, including Marketing, Business Analytics, Industrial and Mechanical Engineering.

Whether you’re looking for journals in your field, receive a solicitation to submit work from a publisher, or are wondering which Open Access journals are trustworthy, librarians can help you find publishers and research their publishing practices before you submit your work. The “Evaluating Publishers: Open Access Publishing and Predatory Journals” workshop will briefly cover both monograph and journal publishers, with more time given to journal publishers.

 

The workshop will be held on September 28th, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Hodges Library, Room 127.
