The Rachel Tanur Memorial Prize for Visual Sociology recognizes students in the social sciences who incorporate visual analysis in their work. It is named for Rachel Dorothy Tanur (1958–2002), an urban planner and lawyer who cared deeply about people and their lives and was an acute observer of living conditions and human relationships. The committee is now accepting applications for 2018 and applications will be accepted until January 24, 2018.

The International Peace Scholarship Fund, established in 1949, is a program which provides scholarships for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States and Canada. Past GTA@OIT Grant recipients will host a panel discussion on technology tools that enhance teaching and learning in their courses.
The brown bag lunch event will be held on Wednesday, September 27th, from 12:20 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. in the Hodges Library Practice Presentation Room, 220E. The presenters include: Amy Heger, Psychology; Cara Sulyok, Mathematics; and Vincent Price, Theory and Practice in Teacher Education.

The “Evaluating Publishers: Open Access Publishing and Predatory Journals” workshop will briefly cover both monograph and journal publishers, with more time given to journal publishers.
