Call for proposals: Professional Development Summit

The Center for Career Development and the Graduate Student Senate are preparing for the Professional Development Summit scheduled for April 9, 2019. Attached is the Call for Proposals, and here’s what they have to say about the invitation:

The inaugural Professional Development Summit, hosted by the Center for Career Development and the Graduate Student Senate, will be held on April 6, 2019! This summit is designed for graduate and professional students at all stages of their academic and career journeys. We are inviting current graduate/professional students, faculty, and staff members at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to submit proposals for educational sessions aimed at expanding graduate students’ knowledge about career options and professional development. Check out the proposal submission guidelines for more information. Applications are due December 14, 2018!”

Graduate students, faculty, and staff members at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville are invited to submit proposals for educational sessions aimed at expanding graduate students’ knowledge about career options and professional development for the inaugural university-wide Professional Development Summit , hosted by the Center for Career Development and the Graduate Student Senate!

The purpose of this half-day summit is to provide a variety of educational sessions that will speak to the professional development needs of graduate and professional students at all stages in their academic journeys. You must be a current graduate or professional student, faculty or staff member at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to apply.

Proposal Guidelines

The proposal application must include the following:

  • Presenter(s) Information
  •  Title & Abstract
  •   Topic
  • Target Audience
  •  CV
  •  A narrative (maximum 1 single-spaced page) that includes the following information:

o Format of proposed 30-minute presentation (examples include, but are not limited to: talks, facilitated discussion, panels and interactive workshops).

o Learning objectives
o Summary of chosen topic o Activities

Preference will be given to submissions that are applicable to a wide audience; however proposals that relate to specific stages or programs will be considered.

How to Submit a Proposal

Please fill out the proposal form and submit all additional documentation requested. You can access theproposal application at https://tiny.utk.edu/PDSummit2019. Proposals are due no later than December 14, 2018 at 11:59pm . Presenters will receive notification on the status of their submission no later than February 1 , 2019 .
