Chamique Holdsclaw Event

The VolAware Mental Health & Wellness Committee and Student Counseling Center have just announced that Chamique Holdsclaw will be speaking in the University Center Auditorium on Wednesday, September 12th (2:00 – 3:30 pm). Last year, Chamique visited our Sport Psychology seminar and shared her compelling story.

Here is a brief part of the release:

“Most of us think of Chamique as a former Lady Vols basketball player who led the Lady Vols to three straight national championships, or as a professional basketball player in the Women’s National Basketball Association. Aside from her outstanding athletic talent, Chamique is an extraordinary human being who loves giving back to the community. She spends a great deal of her free time speaking to various women’s organizations and young girls about the importance of self-esteem, education, and leading a healthy and physically active lifestyle. As of late, Chamique has devoted a lot of her focus and time to speaking to various conferences, panels and events within the mental health community to share her own personal struggles with depression and how she has been able to overcome her battles. Chamique will be on speaking, about her experiences with depression and how she became a suicide survivor.”
