Iowa State University Lecturer (non-tenure eligible) positions
The Department of Kinesiology (http://www.kin.hs.iastate.edu/) at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa is seeking to hire two full-time lecturers (non-tenure-eligible) with expertise preferably in more than one of the following areas of kinesiology: physical activity and health, community and public health, exercise physiology, exercise and sport psychology, strength and conditioning, health promotion, human diseases (chronic and infectious), and sociocultural perspectives of health behaviors. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses and mentoring undergraduate students (80-85% of workload) and institutional and professional service and outreach (approximately 15-20% of workload); research is not a required activity. Candidates are required to have a master’s degree in kinesiology or related field and have college/university teaching experience. Preferred qualifications include doctoral degree in kinesiology and evidence of a strong commitment to teaching excellence and the academic preparation of undergraduate students; mentoring students in teaching, research, or outreach activities; and contributions to institutional or professional service.
The Department of Kinesiology is the largest of five academic units in the College of Human Sciences and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in kinesiology. The department has approximately 1380 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. We offer undergraduate programs in Kinesiology & Health (with options in community and public health, exercise science, physical education, and pre-health professions) and Athletic Training to meet the diverse interests of our majors. The teaching, research, and outreach interests and expertise of our nationally recognized faculty are diverse and reflect biomechanical, pedagogical, physiological, psychological, and sociocultural perspectives of physical activity, exercise, and health. Department faculty and staff reflect a high level of collegiality and a strong commitment to students.
