The School of Natural Resources, University of Missouri, is recruiting for two Teaching Assistant Professor positions in Sport Management (http://snr.missouri.edu/prt/academics/sports-mgmt.php). Both positions will be 12-month, benefit eligible (non-tenure) track academic appointments in Parks, Recreation and Tourism program. Salaries will be commensurate with rank and qualifications. Effective date of appointment: January 1, 2017, or earlier as negotiated. The University of Missouri campus in Columbia has 35,000 students with some 800 undergraduates in the School of Natural Resources.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a combination of education and experience in Sport Management. Supportive degrees in Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources are preferred. Prior collegiate teaching experience is desired. Applicants must have earned a PhD degree by the time of appointment.
Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities associated with these positions are closely coupled with the creative and innovative delivery of our sport management curriculum. Successful applicants will be expected to teach a total of five core and one specialty course per year (could be a graduate offering). Course topics may include: Introduction to Sport Management, Marketing of Sport and Leisure, Governance and Policy in Sport, Global Sport Environments, Sport Economics and Finance, The Business of Sport, Legal Aspects of Sport, and specialty courses. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating an ability to design and deliver sport management courses with clear ties to the broad disciplines represented in the School of Natural Resources, including health, recreation, outdoor sports, conservation, and youth development. Selected applicants will also facilitate internship opportunities and counsel students on internships throughout the year.

Parks, Recreation and Sport is a large department of nearly 400 students within the School of Natural Resources within the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. With these two new hires we are a faculty of seven. Emphasis areas in Natural Resource Recreation Management, Leisure Service Management, Tourism and Sport Management. The department employees two professional advisors, two professional internship supervisors and an administrative assistant. We are among the oldest accredited NRPA programs in the United States with 2016 being our 50th year as a program. 2017 will mark our 39th year of accreditation.
