FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Department of Kinesiology Iowa State University Assistant Professor, Kinesiology
The Department of Kinesiology (http://www.kin.hs.iastate.edu/) at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa is seeking a strong scholar in any subdiscipline of kinesiology. Applications are invited from individuals with expertise in any domain associated with movement, physical activity or exercise, using research models ranging from the cellular to whole organism, and involving animal or human models. This is a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position with an anticipated start date in August, 2017. The person who fills this position is expected to develop an externally funded research program, publish in scholarly journals, integrate expertise into teaching current and new academic courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide relevant University and professional service. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate that their research and teaching expertise will complement and extend the expertise now available within the Department of Kinesiology. The successful applicant will have strong departmental support, excellent research infrastructure, collaborative opportunities with relevant units on- and off-campus, and a supportive, collegial work environment. Candidates must have completed the requirements for a doctorate by August 2017 in an appropriate area of kinesiology or related field and have evidence of a focused research program as demonstrated by publication record. Post-doctoral experience, a history of extramural funding, and college/university teaching experience are desirable.
The Department of Kinesiology is one of five academic units in the College of Human Sciences and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in kinesiology. The department has approximately 1300 undergraduate and 40 graduate students, making it one of the largest academic departments at Iowa State. Department laboratories are well equipped with state of the art facilities. Faculty research and teaching interests address biomechanical, neuromotor, pedagogical, physiological, epidemiological, and psychological perspectives of human movement, physical activity, and health.
