Smoke-Free Campus Policy to Take Effect August 1

As we work to protect the health and safety of all university students, employees, and visitors, the university will implement a smoke-free campus policy effective August 1, 2018. More than 2,100 college and university campuses across the country have adopted smoke-free policies.
Smoking will be prohibited in and on all university property. Smoking means inhaling, exhaling, burning, or carrying any lighted cigar, cigarette (including any electronic cigarette or similar device), pipe, or other lighted tobacco product.
This prohibition includes smoking in private vehicles when parked or operated on university property. Additionally, littering on university property with tobacco products or the remains of any tobacco products is prohibited.
Employees can report any concerns about a violation of this policy to their supervisor. Students can report violations to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.
As we transition to a smoke-free campus, those interested in smoking cessation options can visit the Be Well website for a full list of campus and online resources including cessation products and programs, help lines, and apps.
Additionally, the full policy and a list of frequently asked questions can be found on the site.
